Bruce’s GPS cooperated this year, so he was in the house. Dan was in NE following his stint at the Big E, so he joined us. Also in the house was the original owner of the Max track that now has become Fiddlehead Raceway, the one and only Rob Hayes. The first race of the day was Spec Racer. We have run this class here in the past, so the guys were ready to go after 1 ½ hours of practice. In the end, yours truly took down the win with an endbell Fusion. My V3 was very close in performance, and Dan drove it to a 2nd place finish. Thank you, Mrs. P, for preparing and setting this up! The next and final class of the day was Modified. The Max is a high downforce track, and a racer must guard against excessive heat in this class. And sure enough, Bruce and Tom Gray were casualties. Tom Jahl, last year’s victor, had a body that repeatedly separated itself from the chassis. After my issues last year in this class, I was determined to get through the race unscathed. I prevailed with a V3. Thanks to all who came! Our next race will be at Terry’s Ralph Spoilsport Speedway on November 14th. Hope to see you there! JP
