March Madness!

Ashland Massachusetts, March 8, 2025 – Twelve drivers showed up at LenJet for the March 8th race.  This was our second event where we ran three races with three-minute heats instead of our regular two races and five-minute heats.

Our first race was an IROC race with One Stop Slot Shop TFX cars on the Aurora Tub.  A bit of different vibe for the magnet racers, but everyone seemed to enjoy the TFX cars with 14 laps covering the field.  A big thanks to Greg Wisniewski for the very cool chevy pickup bodies.  When the dust settled, Paul Crosby was on the top of the podium closely followed by car owner Paul Ryer.  Tom Gray demonstrated that his pancake car skills are quickly improving with a third place finish a lap behind Paul. Tom Jahl took the last spot a lap behind Tom Gray to finish fourth.  Full results posted below.

Next up was G-Jet on the Car Model track.  The car model is a tub that was available in the heyday of slot car racing.  Not many were sold and this may be the sole survivor. Currently it has a race surface from Brad’s Tracks that is super smooth and perfect for G-Jets.  Racing is fast and the key to a good race is getting into a good rhythm and avoiding the inevitable wrecks.  John Pileggi kept his cool and drove to the top Pro spot with 171 laps.  Tom Jahl quietly drove to second with 169 laps beating Paul Ryer, who took third by a section.  Tom Gray dusted off his G-Jet to take fourth for the Pros.  Hal Pierce took the top spot for the Sportsman with 162 Laps.  Bruce Olsen’s 159 laps landed him in second and in his first G-Jet race John Esposito finished third with 152 laps.  Dave Muse took the last podium spot with 148 laps.  Full results posted below.

We finished the day with Spec Racer on the Nuvolari.  Dave Muse sat this one out, so we were down to eleven drivers for the final race.  The Nuvolari, like the Car Model track demands a fast pace and an eye on the whole track to avoid accidents.  Some of the drivers have many laps on this track from the ten plus Nuvolari Enduros.  Spec Racer is fast on this track and when all was said and done, John Pileggi took the win and continued his dominance of the 2024 – 2025 season.  Tom Gray took second in the pros followed by Hakim Harris in third and Tom Jahl in fourth.  Bruce Olsen had a solid drive to take second overall and first for the Sportsman. Hal Pierce had another strong finish taking second followed by Paul Crosby in third.  John Esposito nabbed another ribbon to take fourth in the Sportsman.  Full results posted below.

Once the racing was done, ribbons were awarded and people packed up and headed home after a very satisfying day of racing.  Thanks to Peter Lentros for LenJet and thanks to Paul Crosby and Rich Payne making sure the doors are open, and the tracks are ready for us.

Next up, we’ll be at Rob Hayes’ Catfish International Speedway in the Republic of Cambridge.  Classes will be G-Jet with Can-Am bodies and Open weighted.  Hope to see you there!
