January 20, 2025 | paul Oh no, snow! Hingham Massachusetts, January 11, 2024 – Will it snow? Will it not snow? Well, it ended up snowing. Not a lot, but enough to make the local roads adventurous. Six MARC members made the trip to South Shore Speedway to join host Paul Ryer for some racing on Elvis. With a light turnout there was plenty of coffee and donuts to fuel up drivers for the first part of the day. First up was Open-Weighted. This is a great class for those that enjoy slower racing with less downforce, making it a great fit for Elvis. Most people are running BSRT or Viper chassis although there was one Fusion and someone was dabbling with a Ghost Cat, but I’m not sure if they ran. With the light turnout, people had plenty of track time to get set up. After a brief drivers meeting and tech we were ready to race. You needed sub 4 second laps to get on the top of the podium. Jim Macartney set the fastest lap of the day with 3.640 in blue, but it was host Paul Ryer that took down the win with 274 laps. Tom Jahl’s 263 got him second with Jim Macartney just a lap behind in third with 262 laps. Terry Ayer took third just a lap behind Jim for the final podium spot with 261 laps. Defiantly some close racing! Being the only Sportsman present, Hal Pierce took the sportsman win with 237 laps. Full results are below. Pizza arrived and practice for Super Stock commenced. Once again we have shown you can race Super Stock on a MaxTrax without burning up if you get the setup in the ballpark. Re-energized after lunch, drivers were ready to step up the pace with Super Stock on Elvis. When the final heat ended there was no smoke or scent of burned comms. Hakim Harris was on the top spot with 384 laps. Hakim also set fastest lap in yellow with a 2.521second lap. Track owner Paul Ryer came home in second with 280 laps. He had a shot at the podium, but choked hard in red. So much for the track owner’s advantage. Terry Ayer took third with 371 laps and Jim Macartney filled out the podium with 365 laps. Hal Pierce took the Sportsman win just by starting the race, but Hal was grooving and laid down 367 laps for the Sportsman win and 4th overall. Great run Hal! Complete results are below. MARC-January-2025-Results Once the racing was done, ribbons were awarded and people packed up and headed home after a very satisfying day of racing. Thanks to the guys who braved the weather and made the trip. It was a fun, relaxed day. Next up is the big race of the MARC season.
