It appears that less and less manufacturers are producing silicone sponge tires. I heard that GO GO has become sick from the residue caused from grinding the sponge. It appears that others have stopped making them and the manufacturers that still do make them remain questionable.

With the high quality rims and solid silicone tires available, I think it's time that we consider switching our classes over to the slip on s.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't sili sponge tires cost more than slip-on tires? Might be a cost savings and I'd think slip ons last longer.

It might be a tad too early to call it quits on silicone sponge tires but it's certainly worth talking about at our next rules meeting this summer.  If we go the slip-on route, I would like at least a year's warning so I can stop buying new silicone sponge tires and use up my inventory; I'm sure I'm not the only one with big $$$ tied up in tire inventory.

There's also the question of what HOPRA is doing.  If MARC goes slip-on before HOPRA, those attending the Nats will be at a huge disadvantage of not running the tires all year.  Handling with slip-ons is different that with Silicone Sponge tires.

Just stuff to think about before we jump on the slip on band wagon.
